Well, That Was a Long Hiatus

So much has happened over the course of a year that my brain can barely comprehend it. The short story is that I have been very busy.

The long story is very long and I will spare you. It includes a move to Toronto, a trip to Paris and London, hiking in Vermont, and multiple adventures up and down the Eastern Seaboard and throughout Ontario. And that's just the travel.

There have been so many highs and lows, loss and love, family dinners, beautiful weddings, hours spent commuting in traffic, and unexpected work contracts that stretched (mercifully) from weeks to months. It's been a lot of work and a lot of fun, and I've really missed Histoire Travel and this blog. I felt a little sheepishly apologetic about writing again when I finally sat down to do it.

But I'm back! So watch this space and the rest of the website. I have a whole backlog of adventures to share plus a new layout with separate sections for my favorite destinations and helpful tips and tricks. It's a work in progress, but it's progressing.

Happy Birthday, Auguste Rodin

In honor of Auguste Rodin's birthday and the fact that I now have all the photos from our France trip, today is a great day for a little picture post from the Museé Rodin. I can't really say that the museum is a hidden gem. Everyone and their guidebook recommends coming here, but I think it often gets pushed aside in favor of some of the bigger, more grandiose sites.

The museum and its gardens, however, are gorgeous. They are worth a leisurely, relaxed visit and a perfect way to discover Rodin's works.

There's something magical about being so close to those massive sculptures that you can see every chisel mark and then walking through those gardens and stumbling upon something unexpected amidst the flowers, trees, and meandering paths. Pictures can't do it justice and without Rodin's work, this little oasis in the midst of an already overwhelmingly beautiful city wouldn't exist.

Our Final Days in France

I've been quiet on the blogging front the past few days. Mostly I got frustrated with iPhone/Wordpress app writing and, to be honest, we haven't been up to all that much. So I figured I'd spend the last few days lazing on the beach, finally starting to reading my book, and just plain relaxing.

We went to Antibes one day, which I'll write about when I get back. Here's a few pics for now.

We're heading out the door now and are off to Nice to catch a flight to Paris.

Villefranche treated me to one final, beautiful sunrise.

I'm really going to miss our little square. It has been a big treat to eat breakfast and look out onto everything from a surprise festival, to the town dog (more about him later), to the sweet peace we had today.

The next time I post, I will probably be back home.

Au revoir for now!
